Security tag detection systems. Known as EAS systems. You put special tags or stickers on your merchandise and if a customer steals your item the alarm will sound on the way out.
A detection system is used to pick up a wide variety of EAS security sensor tags. Ever purchase something and beep on the way out? Well that beep is from an EAS system. EAS units are sometimes called towers, antennas, or pedestals. No techie talk here! Basically your items get tagged with a sticker or hard tag; then upon unauthorized removal (a shoplifter) the alarm will sound alerting the employees. EAS systems are not made to stop all shoplifting, but does reduce theft about 60% on average. |
